Candied Jalapeno Pimento Cheese
For me, Pimento Cheese screams summertime. However, I wanted to elevate my flavors a little because I love all things sweet and spicy. Candied Jalapenos are the perfect way to give just a little extra flavor to a pimento cheese sandwich. This Candied Jalapeno Pimento Cheese is now a family favorite in my house for picnics or special lunches.
This recipe uses medium cheddar and sharp cheddar. You can adjust the cheese amount and types to get a combo your whole family will love. I also use a half block of cream cheese to give it a little extra creaminess. If you like a little more heat and sweet to your Candied Jalapeno Pimento Cheese, just simply double the recipe for the candied jalapenos and enjoy!
Megan Vs Hatch Peppers
I just wanna include a little story and tip here. Pro Tip: Don’t try to chop those darlin little jalapenos without gloves. They might seem perfectly innocent when you are chopping. However, a few hours later and your hands will need some attention.
Story time: When we lived in West Texas, I had a friend bring a whole sack of Hatch Peppers from New Mexico. I loved this gift. Immediatly, I got in the kitchen and started roasting and prepping them to freeze. When they came out of the oven, I steamed them and took the peel off. Still no signs of any problems, in the freezer they went. A few hours later, it was probably about midnight, I can’t sleep because my hands were burning something awful. I’m frantically looking over the internet for a fix and land on one. SO at midnight, while the dog is questioning my sanity, I find myself sitting at the kitchen table with milk. I sit at that table with my hands in a large container of milk for what seemed like forever. Moral of the story: Cooking with Peppers requires gloves. So when making your batch of Candied Jalapeno Pimento Cheese, don’t skip the gloves!!
