Cheesy Air Fryer Mummy Dogs
A frightfully delicious, kid-friendly brunch food that can be made in under 20 minutes. I present to you the Cheesy Air Fryer Mummy Dog.
Halloween is on a Saturday this year. Which means no school so you can totally sleep in late, skip breakfast, and have a Halloween Brunch.
Crescent Roll Dough, Hot Dogs, and Cheese
That’s it. Three ingredients. Well, if you want mustard eyes, then four. But really all of these ingredients are simple to find in the grocery store or they already live in your fridge.
No Air Fryer, No Problem
If you don’t own an air fryer, just pop them in the oven till the crescent dough turns a nice golden color. I would set the oven to 375 for this.
Cheesy Center
I wanted to include a picture of how I cut the hot dog and place the cheese as it can be hard to explain in the recipe section using just words.
I cut the hot dog vertically, down the center and slightly pull it apart in order to stuff the cheese inside.
What to pair with these Cheesy Air Fryer Mummy Dogs?
If you are serving these mummies at brunch, I would pair this with eggs, a fruit salad, hash browns, or maybe a yogurt with toppings’ bar.
Don’t forget the dipping sauce! We love these with mustard, ketchup, or even picante sauce.
Cheesy Air Fryer Mummy Dogs
Ingredients
- 8 Hot Dogs
- 8 oz Package of Crescent Rolls
- 8 tbsp Cheddar Cheese or whatever cheese your family prefers
- Dipping Sauces of Choice, including mustard if you are making eyes
Instructions
- Preheat Air Fryer to 370° or Oven to 375°.
- Slice each hot dog vertically, making the cut to at least half the hot dog deep and slightly pull apart. Stuff about 1 tbsp of cheese into each hot dogs cut.
- For each hot dog, I use one crescent triangle. Cut the triangles into multiple strips. These don't have to be uniform, but I tend to make 5 bandages per triangle.
- Wrap your crescent bandages around each hot dog. They don't have to be exactly placed against each other and some can even overlap. Just make sure to leave a little opening for placing eyes.
- Cook in air fryer for about 6 minutes or until golden brown. If using oven bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- If making eyes, dip a toothpick in mustard and gently place two dots of mustard.
